The design of the residence juxtaposes the historic building envelope with an open loft plan. The 10th floor apartment has spectacular views of the reservoir in Central Park. An open living space was created, replacing the historic pre-war plan’s series of small rooms facing Central Park. The bedrooms are facing the side street and the courtyard.  A dialogue between the interpretation of the historic details with contemporary objects is used to define the public and private spaces. Timeless design is accomplished through the expression of craftsmanship in the making of the elements and details. Indirect lighting reinforces the millwork as objects in the space. A custom-designed cast glass light fixture floats above a custom-designed dining room table in harmony with the views of Central Park. A minimal palette expresses the essential nature of the selected materials to help create a tranquil environment.
